Lots of Work!
Things are still going really well! Unfortunately, I will have to push the release date for beta Cloak to be sometime in late July. I know I keep pushing the date back, but I promise I'm getting lots of work done. Many points relating to what to expect from this first version are in my previous devlog post, so be sure to check that out.
Points I'd like to make in no particular order:
- Player movement feels much more responsive, polished, and overall much better.
- I have switched from 32 by 32 pixels to 16 by 16 pixels for all art. I decided that I didn't need so much detail within the camera size. I'm halfway done making a tileset that looks incredible, and I think the new character model looks very solid too.
Of course, there have been many small changes and stuff, but only two points may not sound like much. Surprisingly, they have taken me a very long time to work out. I think it makes sense though. Getting movement to feel good is challenging and requires spending lots of time to get it right, and redoing the art for all my sprites and tiles is no easy task.
Still, I'm hard at work trying to release something that I'm proud of, and that will be fun to play. I might even add in some lore for anyone who's interested ;) I've told some of it to my friends, but there is still much to discover...
